4 Reasons To Consider Private School For Your Little One

Posted on: 7 September 2018

Considering the option of enrolling your child in a private elementary school? If so, then you may be wondering if the annual tuition (which can be expensive) is worth the cost versus sending your child to a public school for free. While you'll need to carefully weigh the pros and cons as they relate specifically to your situation, there are a few major benefits of private school to consider as you contemplate your choice.

More Individualized Attention

Because private schools charge tuition, they generally have much lower enrollment numbers than that of public schools. This, in turn, equates to smaller class sizes--which means your child may be getting more individualized attention in class. This more personalized level of education means your child may have more opportunities to ask questions and participate, which could have countless benefits for his or her learning.

Educational Resources

Unfortunately, many public schooling systems these days are struggling with dwindling budgets and budget cuts all around. As a result, their school resources (such as learning technologies and extracurricular programs) are often the first to go. Since a private school is funded by the tuition payments made by parents, there is no need to worry about losing funding for these types of resources. As a result, private schools tend to have more comprehensive educational resources and extracurricular offerings.

A Shared Learning Philosophy

When you enroll your child in a private school, you get to have more of a say in the type of education your child receives. For example, if you want your child's education to focus more on music or the arts, you can generally select a curriculum that will reflect that. This gives your child the opportunity he or she needs to truly grow and reach full potential.

Specialized Educators

Public school teachers can be incredible assets to your child's learning experience, but this is perhaps even moreso true for private school teachers, who often have very specific areas of expertise and specialty. If you have a gifted child, then a private school may be worth exploring for the educators (who likely have more experience working with gifted children) alone.

These are just a few reasons to consider enrolling your child in a private school. Of course, you'll want to assess your finances along with some other important factors before making a decision--but for many, private school is a great choice for a child's future.

Reinforcing My Kid's Education

Once my kids started school, I realized that they were going to need a lot of help at home in addition to their homework. I thought about it and decided that it would be smart to pick up some educational materials that might help. Each night, we would go through the things that they learned, and I would teach them my personal take on the material. You wouldn't believe the difference it made. Within about six weeks, both of my kids were on track with their schoolwork and thriving in school. Parental involvement matters, which is why this blog exists.
